Rockers breaking

    Has I said in the introduction post. I made a complete restauration of my Rekord C Coupé. It has rhe 1.9s 4 cylinder engine that has been completely overhauled. The head was handed over to a shop to be rectified, rotating valves and new seals. Thing is some rockers keep breaking and I font know why. A old classic car mechanic told me that the rotator/spacer where the valve spring seats could be mounted with the wrong orientation because the springs when decompressed still look too short. Photo attached. I don't know what or where else can I look for the cause of it....

    I agree with him. The springs look to be too compressed when the valve is closed. They would bind when the lifter is up and the weakest point (rocker) would fail.

    The parts manual shows the valve rotators should be on the exhaust valves only.
